In Tāmaki Makaurau, a Glen Innes neighbourhood was woken by gunfire in the early hours of this morning.
Six people were injured, two of them seriously, in the shooting.
Neighbours have described hearing a woman screaming and swearing, and a car speeding away.
The police are investigating, and cordons are in place.
Glen Innes is part of the Maungakiekie-Tamaki ward, its councillor Josephine Bartley spoke to Māni Dunlop.
