Dr Ashley Bloomfield resigns from top health job

The Director General of health Dr Ashley Bloomfield will step down from his role at the end of July - a year prior to his term being up.

He indicated to Public Service Commissioner Peter Hughes last year he would step down before 2023.

The Commissioner says Dr Bloomfield had done an outstanding job leading the Government's health response to COVID-19 and the vaccination rollout.
