The government is funding 16 new projects focussing on mātauranga Māori scientific research.
Each project is receiving about a $250,00, including horticultural and food enterprises, a study into intergenerational iwi knowledge, and ways of bringing traditional and modern engineering streams together.
One of the projects will look at designing next generation health technology through a Māori lens.
University of Auckland is partnering with Kiwa Digital on the research.
Māni Dunlop spoke to Kiwa chief executive Steven Renata about the project.
