Anthony Albanese sworn in as Australia's 31st prime minister

From Midday Report, 12:11 pm on 23 May 2022

Labor leader Anthony Albanese has been sworn in as Australia's 31st Prime Minister.

He, and a group of his top ministers, were sworn in by the Governor-General David Hurley this morning.

The results from Australia's federal election have shown a shift away from the country's two main parties - with the rise of independents, such as the so-called TEALs, as well as more seats for the Greens.

The election also brings in more indigenous to parliament in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
