Mr Karlov was assasinated as he gave a speech at an art gallery in Ankara.
Turkish police have arrested seven people, including six members of the gunman's family.
The attacker appeared to be protesting at Russia's involvement in the war in Syria.
A team of eighteen Russian investigators has arrived in Turkey to establish what led to the assassination.
