Gareth Morgan's Opportunities Party has announced a policy that would protect renters from eviction when landlords sell their properties.
"This way families can opt to be tenants forever and not be undermined by fear of losing their home."
He said with the average house price going from three times the average income to nearly 12 times, New Zealand's population of renters will grow to about 60 percent.
