The options for a new road through the slip-prone Manawatu Gorge have been narrowed down from 14 to four. NZTA regional highway manager Ross l'Anson says five years is a long time for the new road to be made, but they will work on upgrading the Saddle road as a temporary bypass. A decision on the final option will be in December.
