More police needed in rural towns - Local Govt NZ
Local Government New Zealand says it wants to see extra police in rural areas by the end of the year. The residents of a tiny West Coast town are welcoming the reinstatement of their community constable after two year absence which resulted in an increase in petty crime and speeding. Ross locals now say the return of preventative policing has made a real difference. Brian Hanna is the mayor of Waitomo and represents rural councils at Local Government New Zealand. He joins us now.
