Teacher's misconduct charge 'PC gone mad'
A teacher has been censured for carrying a struggling child to a school principal's office. The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal says in the incident last year, the teacher intervened several times to make sure the boy went to the principal's office after he was accused of hurting four classmates. At first the teacher put his hand on the boy's shoulder and steered him in the right direction. When the boy grabbed hold of a bar and wouldn't budge, the teacher prised his fingers free. Finally, he grabbed the boy around the waist with both arms and carried him to the principal. The Tribunal found him guilty of misconduct. Tai Tokerau Principals' Association president Pat Newman joins us with his reaction.
