Man braves Waikato currents to save 8yo girl

A volunteer firefighter who braved the currents of the Waikato River to save an eight-year-old girl says he had to act quickly. Nathan Spitzer was driving past Ngaruawahia Fire Station in his tractor when reports of a young girl in trouble came in so he joined the crew responding. He downplayed his role in the rescue when he spoke to our reporter Jessie Chiang, saying he was just doing his job.
