More patchy thunder, hail, heavy rain due over Aotearoa

Thunderstorms, hail and heavy rain are expected to batter the top of the North Island again today. Nearly 1000 lightning strikes hit areas between the Bay of Islands and Waikato on Monday afternoon, while parts of Auckland had dumps of rain up to 23ml an hour.
