Andrew Little persists with Ngapuhi talks

The new Minister for Treaty Negotiations visits Ngapuhi on the weekend to face tough questions and some unfriendliness over the tasks which face him. At the heart of the stalled Ngapuhi settlement talks is the question of who speaks for the iwi's multiple hapu. Mr Little agrees the task ahead is difficult - but hapu must be properly represented at the negotiating table. He's promised to make many return visits in coming weeks to build relationships and trust.
