The Regional Economic Development Minister wants a work-for-the-dole scheme for young people in the regions saying he'll announce the details in the next few weeks.
Shane Jones is proposing the government give beneficiaries work, and top up their dole payments to minimum wage levels.
He suggests suitable work would include planting trees - but won't say what will happen to people who refuse to work.
