Surgical mesh ban welcomed by campaigners
Women who have been fighting for a ban on surgical mesh for years feel vindicated health officials have finally acted, but wish it had happened years ago. From 4 January, mesh implants will not be used for pelvic organ prolapse or urinary incontinence because of the risks. ACC has paid out more than $13 million in injury claims to hundreds of patients who have suffered chronic pain and infection from the implants in the past decade.
