Film maker asked to brush up on cultural awareness skills

The Department of Conservation in the top of the South Island/Te Tau Ihu is urging the film and television industry to brush up on its cultural awareness when applying to film on Crown land. The eight iwi in the northern South Island, still trying to bed in systems post Treaty settlement, are struggling to cope with late requests for permits. Film makers say they'd like to comply, but there's a lack of information on how.
