From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 30 January 2018

The large Lower Hutt suburb of Wainuiomata set a new temperature record on Monday, when the mercury rose to a high of 32.3 degrees celsius. That was good enough for the hottest temperature in the North Island - and it's also the highesever recorded in the four years it's been monitored in the township. RNZ reporter Emile Donovan went out there to see how the locals were coping.
