Storms, tides hit dotterel populations

They are rarer than kiwi, but many beachgoers remain unaware of the precarious plight of the New Zealand dotterel. While some dotterel populations have had a bumper breeding season, some nesting areas have been badly affected by the storms and king tides that hit the upper North Island earlier this month. RNZ reporter Sarah Robson headed to a couple of beaches not too far from central Auckland to see what's happening.
