Māori leaders support zero-carbon 2050 goal
Māori leaders have thrown their weight behind the goal of making New Zealand carbon neutral by 2050 at the latest, saying climate change is the most serious threat facing New Zealand. More than 120 leaders and officials representing iwi and hapu and fishing and forestry companies met in Wellington at the weekend for the first Māori Leaders Climate Summit. Mike Smith helped organise the event and was one of the keynote speakers.
