SH1 Whangarei road fix scrapped, local leaders disappointed

The government has dashed Northland hopes of a new, safe highway to Auckland. After a meeting with Transport Minister Phil Twyford, the region's mayors and other leaders say the plan for a four-lane road is off the agenda. And most are bitterly disappointed.
