Migrants struggle to settle in Nelson-Tasman

Immigrants in the Nelson Tasman region complain of widespread racial discrimination and some say they can't get jobs because of their accent. A study found migrants face significant difficulties, including negative stereoptypes, difficulty in finding rental housing, name-calling and bullying. Nelson has the country's third largest migrant population, behind Auckland and Wellington. One of the solutions proposed is an increase in interpreters, particularly in the health sector. Brigid Ryan is from the Nelson Multicultural Council which conducted the study. She talks to Susie Ferguson.
