One of the last three living soldiers of the 28th Māori Battalion attended the dawn service in his hometown of Masterton yesterday. Ninety-six-year-old Epineha Ratapu served in the battalion's C Company and saw action in the desert campaigns, Italy and Japan during the Second World War.
