Rotorua rain 'like a wall of water' - Steve Chadwick
More heavy rain is forcast for Rotorua a day after after the district experienced its wettest hour on record on Sunday. The city had nearly 1.5 times the normal April rainfall over a 38 hour period. The deluge led to a state of emergency being declared in the town of Ngongotaha near Rotorua. A resident, Colin Berryman, told RNZ's Andrew McRae he was rescued by the fire service. Rotorua Mayor Steve Chadwick tells Guyon Espiner locals told her it was like a "wall of water" rushing down.
