Schools back plan to hit unconscious bias
Schools that have tackled unconscious bias among their teachers say it has a big impact on Maori students' achievement. They're backing the Education Ministry's suggestion that the government could deliver a step change for Māori by developing a programme that improves teachers' attitudes toward their Māori students. But the secondary teachers union warns teacher bias isn't the only problem holding back Māori children. RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen filed this report.
