Immigration NZ scraps deportation scheme

Immigration New Zealand used a priority system to deport Indian immigrants and set up a pilot project targeting Indian students for compliance action. It says it never used racial profiling in data and predictive modelling work, but has now scrapped the pilot scheme and 'harm model' spreadsheet it produced. The Privacy Commissioner and Human Rights Commission say they'll work with the agency it if it develops a similar initiative or technology in the future.
