Staff returning to work after first national nurses' strike in almost 30 years
Nurses are returning to work as a 24-hour strike over staffing shortages and poor pay comes to an end. Yesterday about 30,000 nurses were on strike and many took to the streets to protest about their pay. But 5000 nurses remained on duty to care for those patients still in hospital. Many nurses said the wards that were open were better staffed than usual. Reporter Anneke Smith went to Auckland City Hospital to talk to staff and patients.
