Whangarei developers eye arts funding for conference centre

Developers keen to build a new hotel in Whangarei are eyeing up council funding set aside for the arts. The Whangarei District Council has been budgeting for more than a decade for a new theatre. But hotel developers say it would make more sense to build a multi-purpose conference centre.
