Crossroads for racing industry - Peters

The Racing Minister Winston Peters says the industry is facing two choices, significant change or death. Mr Peters has released an independent report by Australian racing expert, John Messara, that concludes the industry is in a state of "serious malaise''. There's seventeen recommendations in the report, which includes almost halving the number of tracks and outsourcing the TAB's commercial activities to an international operator.
