NZers in Australia corruption case met at Hutt City Council
A New Zealand couple caught up in a corruption scandal in Western Australia met while working at the Hutt City Council. The Australian Corruption and Crime Commission has described the behaviour of former local government chief executive Rodger Kerr-Newell as "the very embodiment of corruption" after, among other things, he hired his girlfriend Bronwyn Little. Mr Kerr-Newell was once the chief executive of the Hutt City, New Plymouth and Rodney District councils and has been doing the same job at the Shire of Halls Creek in outback Western Australia since 2013. RNZ reporter Eva Corlett has been going through the Commission's report.
