Martin Lawes' sentence too light - Lynette Stewart
Northland women celebrating Suffrage Day have been urged to complain to the Minister of Justice about the sentence given to an Auckland businessman for child sex abuse. Martin Lawes, 75, paid parents in the Philippines to sexually abuse their children and watched the live-streamed video from his Takapuna home. He was sent to prison for four and a half years. Lynette Stewart, a former Northland DHB chair, now heads the Kia Ora Ngati Wai Health Trust. She spoke at a Suffrage Day rally in Whangarei and urged women to let Andrew Little know the sentence was far too light. She spoke afterwards to RNZ Northland reporter Lois Williams.
