Iwi in anguish at plans to re-name Great Barrier Island
An iwi who have occupied Great Barrier Island since the 1700s are outraged that another group of iwi will officially re-name the island. It's one of 52 geographic sites across the North Island being re-named as part of the Hauraki Treaty settlement. But the iwi of Ngāti Wai say Hauraki have no right to make decisions over it.
