NZ Under-17 women's footballers exceeded expectations - coach
The coach of the record-breaking under 17 women's football team says the team has exceeded expectations. The team made New Zealand sporting history yesterday, beating Canada 2-1 to come third at the FIFA under 17 women's world cup in Uruguay. It's the first time a New Zealand team has taken out an award at a FIFA event. The Under 17's coach Leon Birnie says some of the players have bright futures head and will likely end up going throught the Football Ferns Development programme to get into the best footballing and education programmes. He spoke to RNZ reporter Barry Guy about how the match played out.
