Crackdown on family violence a good start - Ang Jury
The head of Women's Refuge says the new law cracking down on family violence are long overdue and a "good start." The Family Violence Amendments Act which comes into force today, aims to keep victims, including children, safe. It also creates three new offences, including one of strangulation or suffocation, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years imprisonment. Dr Ang Jury is the chief executive of Women's Refuge. She joins Susie Ferguson in the studio to discuss.
