Iwi angry at council snub over homeless contract

A Wellington iwi social service has been left confused and angry after the council declined its funding bid to help the homeless. Instead, the Wellington City Council awarded almost 500 thousand dollar contract to DCM, formerly known as Downtown City Mission. But Ngati Kahungunu ki Poneke Community Services say most of the homeless in the city are Maori and it did the lions share of work with them in the past.
