Union dismayed by charges of two decades of slavery
A union leader who represents migrant workers is dismayed a man accused of human trafficking and slavery in New Zealand went undetected for more than 20 years. Viliamu Samu (better known as Joseph Matamata) is charged with using 10 people as slaves in the horticultural industry between 1994 and 2017. He also faces eight charges of trafficking people from Samoa between 2003 and 2017. Dennis Maga is First Union's spokesman on migrant workers.
