NZ will support UN Global Compact on Migration
The Foreign Minister says New Zealand will support the UN Global Compact on Migration and claims it affects our sovereignty are poppycock. Winston Peters says legal advice has debunked falsehoods being spread about the compact which he says is not legally binding and does not create legal obligations. This is what he said in Parliament yesterday. We have asked Mr Peters to speak about this morning - we haven't had a reply yet. National says it would overturn the compact - their foreign affairs spokesperson Todd McCaly was unavailable this morning.
