Roading contractors fear redundancies as projects end
Large-scale roading contractors are anticipating redundancies and skilled workers leaving New Zealand, as big-budget projects inherited from the previous government finish up. The National government had a strong focus on roading - but the Labour-led government has shifted that focus, postponing plans for four-lane highways in favour of upgrading the existing network and investing more in rail. As RNZ reporter Tom Furley found out, that's been a tricky adjustment for civil contractors.
