Wellington Council keen on Kelburn booze ban

The Wellington City Council is set to push ahead with consulting on a liquor ban in Kelburn Park, despite early discussions showing the police don't think one is necessary. The council is proposing a ban between eight o'clock at night and eight in the morning, spurred by complaints from residents of drunken, noisy students from nearby student accommodation converging on the park, and making a mess. Our reporter Laura Dooney spoke to one of those residents, who wanted to remain anonymous. He says the problem started about seven years ago.
