Turkish president screens mosque shooting after Peters visit
Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has again played video of the Christchurch shootings at a political rally, just hours after Winston Peters said he understood the footage would no longer be shown. The Foreign Minister had travelled to Turkey for a gathering of leaders of Islamic nations and had talked to Mr Erdogan about his inflammatory comments in the wake of the attacks, but did not directly ask him to stop screening the footage. Mr Erdogan had shown clips of the shooting about a dozen times throughout the last week in an effort to galvanise support among conservative voters in the run-up to local body elections. The ABC's Middle East correspondent Eric Tlozek was in Istanbul during Mr Peters' visit.
