Aviation watchdog oversight problems go back decades
More is expected to be revealed today about the failings by the Civil Aviation Authority in the lead up to a helicopter crash in 2015 which killed seven people. Earlier this week the CAA admitted its oversight of Alpine Adventures should have been better but says it's fixed the problems. The official transport accident investigation report on the crash is due this afternoon. As Michael Cropp explains the Authority has been faulted repeatedly in a series of reports by the Auditor General between 1997 and 2010.
