A physiotherapist is warning parents and coaches of the dangers of pushing children too hard in sport.
ACC data show sports injuries among children under 15 years old went up 60-percent between 2008 and 2017, and it says too much sport too early might be partly to blame.
A physiotherapist Sharon Kearney specialises in adolescent sports injuries and has helped design a programme to reduce injury risk among young netballers.
She tells RNZ reporter Michael Cropp that young bodies aren't built for such intense training regimes.
