NZTA reopens investigation into 'unfair' contract

From Morning Report, 7:15 am on 10 June 2019

The Transport Agency has reopened an investigation into how a senior manager oversaw the awarding of a contract to a company run by a close friend.

An inquiry found that contract was unfairly awarded.

It has also revealed that the manager, Martin McMullan, was accused of blocking competition for a technology contract.

Shortly afterwards Mr McMullan was promoted to one of agency's topmost jobs paying upwards of $150,000 a year. Phil Pennington is looking into this.
