Tamaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare says the government wants to talk fairly with all sides in the Ihumātao land dispute.
Hundreds of people continue to occupy the site to prevent a new Fletcher Buildings housing development on a 32 hectare land block in Mangere, near Auckland Airport.
The Save Our Urban Landscape group leading the occupation has been criticised by some kaumātua for not being true representatives - something SOUL rejects.
Peeni Henare told RNZ's Māni Dunlop talks need to happen and the sooner the better.
