Black Caps prepare for new World Test Championship

From Morning Report, 8:35 am on 30 July 2019

Less than three weeks since the agony of the Cricket World Cup final, the Black Caps head for Sri Lanka on Friday for two test matches and three T20 internationals.

The tests will be New Zealand's first as part of the new World Test Championship, which will conclude with a final in June 2021.

That final will be played at Lord's in London - the same venue where the Black Caps were denied their maiden World Cup title in a count-back scenario against hosts England earlier this month.

After the test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka was announced on Monday - bowler Trent Boult told RNZ sport reporter Clay Wilson it hadn't been easy escaping the memories of that chaotic final in the two weeks since his return.
