GNS seismologists say there is no real cause for concern after a 5.5 magnitude quake struck near Milford Sound last night.
Thousands of people from the West Coast to Wanaka and beyond felt the quake, which caused "strong shaking" was 12 kilometres deep and struck 15 kilometres north of Milford Sound. There have since been 28 aftershocks.
