Suspects escaping custody 'a wakeup call for officers'
The Police Association says three suspects escaping custody is a wakeup call for officers. Three men remain on the run in Horowhenua, more than 24 hours after they escaped police custody and carjacked a passerby in Levin. Wiremu Eparaima, Te Wera Hemara, and Emmanuel Witana escaped while being taken from the district court to prison transport. Vice President of the Police Association is Marcia Murray says the simple fact is that mistakes do happen.
