Government to overhaul work visas
A migrant union representative says the Government's overhaul of work visas will benefit everyone except foreign workers. The changes include the replacement of six visa categories with one temporary work visa. Employers will need to be accredited to recruit foreign workers and specific agreements will be negotiated with sectors that are highly reliant on migrant workers. Anu Ka-loti from the Migrant Workers Association says work visas will still be tied to employers, so foreign workers can still be treated like slaves. The Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway speaks to us from Morning Report's Wellington studio.
