Air NZ to gain from Jetstar's departure from regions

Air New Zealand is promising it won't hike regional airfares on routes that Jetstar is abandoning until the end of 2020. From November, Jetstar is stopping flights between Auckland and Nelson, Napier, New Plymouth and Palmerston North, and its Wellington to Nelson service. The government says it's hopeful another airline will emerge to fill the gap. Andy Bowley, an aviation analyst at Forsyth Barr, says Jetstar New Zealand was facing losses, so its departure doesn't come as a surprise.
