National accuses Speaker of a gag order

National is accusing Speaker Trevor Mallard of a soft attack on democracy, following his ruling that all political attack ads that use edited parliamentary footage, and withouth MPs permission, must be pulled by 5pm today. Shadow leader of the House Gerry Brownlee says Mr Mallard's actions are a chilling move designed to stop freedom of expression. He spoke to political reporter Yvette McCullough about why he thinks the Speaker as over-stepped his role.
