Govt looking at forcibly closing tracks to save horse racing
A law change could force horse racing clubs to not only give up their race tracks, but lose their freehold land as well. The industry is in a severe state of decline and, overseen by the Racing Minister Winston Peters, a raft of reform measures are taking shape. An Insight investigation has found one of those measures is likely to force clubs to sell tracks to fund the upgrade of others. Max Towle filed this report.
