Contaminated water pumped into wastewater system

The 8 million litres of contaminated water in the basement of the Sky City convention is safe enough to be pumped into the wastewater system rather than straight out to sea. There were fears the water would be too toxic to be treated and would end up in the Waitemata Harbour and become a major environmental hazard. But tests have ruled that out as Matthew Theunissen reports.
